Top 4 Drugstore Face and Body Bronzers For Pale Skin
This post covers my top 4 drugstore face and body bronzers for pale skin! Since I have pale skin myself, I am constantly on the hunt for great products that actually work. Listed below you will read the best of the best.
SHOP DRUGSTORE BRONZERS
1. Maybelline City Bronzer Powder, Contour Powder – 100
Starting off this drugstore bronzer list with a Maybelline find. I already love and use the Maybelline SuperStay liquid foundation and pressed powders, so I figured the City Bronzer would also impress me. Online you can look at shade guide which provides swatches for 100, 200, and 300. Without hesitation, I purchased the shade 100 because I didn’t want to pick up any shade that would look too dark! I also am looking for a powder to built and layer my contour and bronzer on my face, so a lighter shade can help achieve this look.
First Impressions
After using the City Bronzer a couple of times, I have noticed that it doesn’t give me a super dark contour line. Sometimes I prefer having a dark contour along my cheeks, but usually on a daily basis, I prefer something simple and straightforward that doesn’t involve a ton of blending work. On a positive note, the City Bronzer allows the product to show the slightest contour sculpting on the face. This bronzer is definitely a cool-toned bronzer and will be perfect on the fairest complexions.
In comparison to darker shades of bronzer on the market, such as the popular Hoola Bronzer, this one is much lighter on the color spectrum. I grab this bronzer when I want a natural makeup look that blends beautifully and does not look orange at all.
It’s all about SUTLE contouring when it comes to the Maybelline City Bronzer Powder, in my opinion. This drugstore bronzer also retails for under $8.00 at most stores like Target, Walmart, and ULTA, which makes it a very affordable find.
2. Bondi Sands Self Tanning Foam – Dark
Confession: I’ve used a ton of self-tanning foams, sprays, you name it. In my experience, self-tanners can be serious hits and misses. Luckily, I’ve never had a bad “orange” moment in my years of applying self-tanner, but I now know what type of product I need to look sun-kissed. I choose to use foaming self-tanning products at home whenever I am in the mood to shave, exfoliate, and grab my tanning mitt to go to town turning myself darker.
My perfect combo is a soft tanning mitt and a foaming mousse tanning product. I wash my tanning mitt immediately after one single use so it can dry out and stay clean for months at a time. I apply a small glob of Bondi Sands Self-Tanning Foam onto the mitt and work the product onto my thighs. I ensure that I cover my entire body by looking into my full-length mirror to check the back of my legs for missing spots, too.
First Impressions
I think I found a GREAT DUPE for the much more expensive St. Tropez Self-Tanning Dark Bronzing Mousse! It also doesn’t stink. That is a huge plus for using a self-tanning product. I hate smelling like I just walked out of a spray tanning salon. Who wants to smell like chemicals, right? The Bondi Sands brand sells at Walgreens for $24.00 which is another reason to skip out on spray tans at the salon AND skip buying the $45 St. Tropez mousse option.
The Bondi Sands Self-Tanning foam can be left on the skin (face, arms, legs) for up to one hour. For a darker tan, you can also choose to leave it on for up to 6 hours! I’ve left mine on for almost 3 hours and find that is the right time for me to wait until showering it off. I have kept my self-tanner from Bondi Sands on my desk in my room to use over and over again this summer. I recommend trying out this product on your skin if you have a light complexion like I do. Of course, the longer you keep the tan on your skin, the darker you will be, so be cautious and track the number of hours you lay around with the foam on your skin!
3. Physicians Formula Butter Bronzer – Sunkissed Bronze
Featuring an oldie, but a goodie with Physicians Formula Butter Bronzer! This isn’t anything new to the beauty industry by any means, however, I am still as obsessed with this bronzer as I first was when it launched. This popular drugstore bronzer also includes a powerful blend of Murumuru Butter, Cupuacu Butter, and Tucuma Butter.
The Physicians Formula Butter Bronzer is also: paraben-free, oil-free, vegan, cruelty-free, hypoallergenic, and dermatologist tested. I enjoy the texture of this bronzer so much because it doesn’t cake up at all when you stroke it on your cheeks. The bronze pigment shows up almost immediately so you can see exactly how much product was applied. In comparison to some shimmery bronzers, this specific one from Physicians Formula is matte.
4. Wet n Wild Color Icon Bronzer – Palm Beach Ready
One last drugstore bronzer I need to mention in this post is also the least expensive of the bunch! Wet n Wild’s Color Icon Bronzer, sold for under $6.00, has the potential to completely highlight AND bronze your face in all the right ways.
I love how this bronzer holds nothing back when you look at the glistening pigments on the formula. I will often contour with the Maybelline City Bronzer and add this Wet n Wild’s Color Icon Bronzer for an extra glow factor. You truly get your money worth by purchasing this bronzer! For all of $6 bucks, you can use it, again and again, all summer long.
In my makeup routine, I am definitely not one to stop at liquid foundation and powder. I love a super glowing, bronzed look (especially for summertime!) and the Wet n Wild’s Color Icon Bronzer aids in achieving that! I know when I travel to Bermuda next week I am planning on packing this bronzer to not only make my face glow, but I will also dust some bronzing product onto my body.
