5 Things I’m Packing for Austin, Texas
If you didn’t already know, my best friend lives in Texas. She is attending the University of Texas (Go, Longhorns!) to complete her master’s in social work.
Back in January, I visited Austin for the first time ever to celebrate my best friend’s birthday.
This weekend I am taking off on another adventure via Southwest (my fave!) to spend time with her and her friends. We are also planning on going out to celebrate Halloween, so stay tuned to see my elaborate costume!
Hopefully this weekend we plan on doing a lot of the same things that we did back in January, such as eating plenty of tacos and shopping at The Domain.
This time around I am packing some new fall-appropriate items in my suitcase so I can dress for the weather that I’ve been dying to experience! Think: knit sweaters, over-the-knee boots, and floppy hats.
1. Rib Knit Sweaters
I’ve been cleaning out my closet all week in preparation for my impending trip to Texas.
I’ve also had no choice to look through my things because my closet fell apart on me! I am desperately looking for a way to fix it, but I’m holding off until I return back from my trip this upcoming weekend.
I found tons of cozy sweaters in my closet since going through it over the past week. I am NOT purchasing a single sweater for the rest of “fall” and “winter”. Seriously. Somebody hold me responsible for this! I own too many sweaters for someone who lives in a tropical climate.
Anyway, one of my go-to places to find quality sweaters is without a doubt, H&M. I have a chunky brown knit sweater that I am planning on packing for my fun trip this weekend.
A classic rib-knit sweater will pair nicely with distressed denim and there is a light-wash pair that I recently bought from Abercrombie to tuck it into.
It won’t be cold enough to layer any plaid scarves over my sweaters, but I’m not complaining! I can’t do that here in Florida right now so I’ll take what I can get this weekend and document the cute looks I style for the blog and feature them over on Insta.
2. Asymmetrical Skirts
Another trendy item I’ll be bringing with me is asymmetrical skirts.
Right now I’ve been wearing mine with a t-shirt tucked in, but in Texas, I will hopefully tuck a sweater into my favorite little skirts!
Forever 21 has plenty of asymmetrical skirts for the fall season in stock. My skirt also has a smooth suede material and buttons down the center, which make it super fall-friendly.
3. Statement Earrings
I wouldn’t be Amanda if I didn’t pack a lot of earrings with me on any trip! I have a major addiction to statement earrings, especially ones from BaubleBar.
A few pairs of statement earrings that I will pack for my Austin trip are BaubleBar Dafina Hoop Earrings with pearl accents and Sugarfix by BaubleBar Flower Drop Earrings ($12.99).
Drop earrings are what I normally wear to accessorize my looks.
Gold jewelry tends to be what I wear most of the time, too. Iridescent earrings look beautiful for an evening out and this pair has my name on it.
4. Fall Accessories
Hats and headbands will definitely be in my suitcase for the weekend.
Floppy wool hats are essential for the fall season. I’m trying to break out my floppy hats here in Florida with little success.
I can’t wait to wear a floppy hat, oversized sweater, and asymmetrical skirt! From floppy hats to those super trendy baker boy hats, I’ll be carrying them all with me over to Texas. Baker boy hats are the must-have silhouette of the season. This one from Nordstrom has nautical-inspired detail.
5. Over The Knee Boots
I caved and purchased a gorgeous pair of suede over-the-knee boots, friends.
Blame it on my Instagram feed. There have been trendy bloggers all over my feed styling these boots and now I get to be one of them, woohoo!
I couldn’t wait to get these boots in the mail. I ordered them in a size up, so I have them in a 10.5. I am SO thankful I ordered the next half-size up as they do run small, and I recommend you do the same.
Over-the-knee boots are always a great investment to have ready to wear. Mine usually sit patiently in my closet for most of the year until the fall season arrives.
I planned a trip last year to New York with my family and I wore my gray over-the-knee boots all over the city. I am so excited to be traveling to Teaxs this weekend, and I am planning on VLOGGING (oh goodness!) the tip and uploading it to YouTube. We’ll see how that pans out, friends!

Great packing list! Will definitely be looking over your choices for OTK boots! Havent decided on a pair for this fall/winter and I'm running out of time! XO
