5 Things I’m Doing For My Skin This Month
1. Pixi Glow Mud Mask
A glowing mud mask? Count me in! Pixi Skintreats Glowing Mud Mask offers purification of the pores in as little as 15 minutes. The Pixi brand is sold at Target and Dermstore, by the way! Inside this mask, the kaolin clay and aloe vera ingredients work together to diminish the size of your pores and keep your skin acne-free.
This Pixi Glow Mud Mask is a special treat that I will apply to my skin once a week. I often need to use a mask at least once a week to purify my skin because of all the makeup I use when I shoot content for my blog and Instagram feeds. Since I wear a lot of different makeup products during the week, I will cleanse my face with a simple cleanser, like this one from Drunk Elephant, and then apply the mud mask until it dries up and my pores are visible.
Another way I utilize this mud mask is as a spot treatment. I broke out as soon as I arrived back from Europe and I read on the back of the mask that you can use this as a spot treatment, too. I applied a little bit of the mask to my pimple for one week and it eventually disappeared! This mud mask will now be something I use as a spot treatment when necessary.
2. Pai Skincare Rosehip BioRegenerate Oil
A few months ago I partnered with a British brand called Pai. This skincare line is available at major retailers such as Free People and Anthropologie. The brand uses organic ingredients and produces everything from high-quality facial cleansers to facial oils.
Including facial oil in my daily skin regime frightened me. As someone who battles with oily skin, I didn’t think adding a facial oil would be beneficial. I did some research and after looking at various websites and checking up on YouTube skin care reviews, I chose to slowly add a Rosehip oil into my routine.
The benefits of Rosehip astounded me! This one facial oil can help reduce the size of your pores, eliminate the scars on your skin from acne, control your blemishes, and nourish your skin. How can one oil do all of that? Luckily, after a few months of trial and error, I saw some fascinating results on my skin. The rich Omegas found within one bottle of Rosehip oil work as a multitasking tool to regenerate the skin without any harsh side effects.
My old acne scars are slowly fading and I will credit the Pai Rosehip BioRegenerate Oil. Trust me when I say that my acne scars are not easy to get rid of. I’ve been off of Accutane for two years now and I still have leftover scarring from my teenage years to take care of. Since I was traveling so much I left my oil inside my bathroom cabinet. I am permanently adding it to my skin care routine (at night) as of this month because I saw a difference in the size of my acne scars because of it.
To use: apply a few drops into the palm of your hand before warming it up. Press firmly into the skin until the orange color completely disappears. I also add a few drops into one of my moisturizers as another way to get the oil into my skin.
3. Botanics Radiant Youth Microdermabrasion Polish
Facial oils and cleansers will work their magic, but you can’t rule out the importance of using an exfoliator. This month I am using the Botanics Radiant Youth Microdermabrasion Polish on my face twice a week. Find it online at Target for $10.99 to use on your face, too. The polish is meant for all different skin types.
This exfoliating product promises to brighten the skin over time. With repeated use, I will see my complexion brighten up in no time. My face still has lingering dark spots and red spots from old inflammed acne.
I really want my skin to look even and less dull which is another reason why I am planning on incorporating this microdermabrasion polish into my nightly skincare regime this month. Exfoliating is the only way to get rid of oil build-up from the skin.
4. COOLA Gradual Tan Face Serum
When it comes to self-tanning, I avoid applying the product to my face. Using anything other than specific “facial lotions” can make me feel uneasy. I have a super light complexion and for the longest time I feared applying sunless tanner to my face — I thought it would turn me orange! I also would fear the look of streaks on my face if I didn’t rub it in enough.
Thankfully, I’ve discovered the best sunless tanning product on the market! The COOLA Gradual Tan Face Serum has given me the chance to achieve a natural-looking bronzed glow.
The spring and summer seasons are upon us and therefore my wardrobe will consist of dresses and skirts. Although I apply self-tanner to my body, I’ve usually purchased a darker tinted moisturizer to match my body color to my face color. Not anymore! With the COOLA face serum (packed with plant botanicals) I can easily see a gradual tan start to build on my face.
5. Ole Henriksen Balance it All
Before heading out to the west to San Francisco with my sister in December, I stopped into my local Sephora to see if I needed any last minute travel products. The Ole Henriksen Balance It All Kit contains everything you need to keep your skin matte and oil-free.
The unique blend of plant ingredients, known as Green Fusion Complex, has neem seed oil and AHAs to completely rid your skin of excess oil. In fact, when I picked up this kit for my trip I loved it SO much that I went back to my Sephora recently to buy the whole kit again.
The cleanser, toner, and moisturizer are travel-friendly and easy to use. At $36.00 it’s also an affordable kit if you are interested in testing out any of the three products before you commit to purchasing the full-sized versions.
The natural antiseptic properties found in each of these 3 products are also great if you suffer from acne breakouts. My oily to combination skin type has been LOVING the entire kit. The cleanser really cuts down on my makeup and oil from the day, too. I can feel it going to work on my skin when it gently lathers up and foams on my face to remove my foundation.
