10 Summer Wardrobe Essentials 2022

Summer in Florida typically means I wear an assortment of flowy dresses, linen pants, and light colors. It’s no surprise that I am looking for clothes that are stylish and comfortable enough to wear in the heat.

For this post, I am sharing 10 summer wardrobe essentials that you’ll need to feel your best during the heat of the summertime. Take it from a Florida girl herself — you’ll thank me for suggesting soft and breathable linen fabrics!

1. Preppy or Pastel Colored Mini Dress (Seersucker, Gingham)

You don’t necessarily HAVE to go for a super preppy mini dress as a summer essential because a pastel-colored mini dress would do just fine! Pastel colors are always in style for spring and summer.

Of course, the preppy trend continues to make waves in the fashion world. Not only did we see the preppy trend take off in the fall, but it’s holding strong as we entered the summer.

2. Printed Maxi Dress

Enjoy a summer vacation wearing a light and airy maxi dress. The green and pink halter dress I have on in the image below comes from Walmart. Make sure to scroll through the widget above to see even more affordable printed maxi dresses that I’m loving for the summer season.

With halter dresses like this one I also use sticky nipple covers instead of a bra with straps. You can easily find these reusable nipple covers on Amazon.

3. Block Heel Wedges

One of my go-to heel styles for the summer is a block heel wedge. My new block heels from Dolce Vita are trendy and comfortable to walk in. I also like the mix of brown tones with a pop of metallic gold.

4. Wicker Tote Bag

In the summertime I typically switch up my accessories. As for bags, I’ll use a wicker or rattan straw bag. Recently I picked up a few new rattan bags and I am excited to share them with you!

5. Linen Pants

Starting in the summer I switch out my jeans for linen pants. Linen fabrics are a must here in Florida! During a trip to LOFT, I ended up picking up a gorgeous botanical linen pant to style for YouTube.

Of course, if you want a more simple linen pant, you can search on Amazon for a neutral color.

6. White Pull On Shorts

During the times when I don’t feel like wearing denim shorts, I’ll opt for a pull-on short in a light color. At LOFT, I picked up a pretty eyelet white pull-on short in a usual size medium. I am going to wear these pull-on shorts all throughout the summer because they feel lightweight.

7. Denim Jean Shorts

Denim shorts are not my first priority in the summer because I have a tough time finding the perfect ones. However, over the years I’ve discovered a few great brands that fit my body type. I have a smaller waist and larger booty which can create difficulty shopping for denim shorts to fit my needs.

Walmart and Abercrombie and two places that make finding denim shorts way easier for me. At Walmart, I shop for the  Time and Tru denim shorts as well as No Boundaries.

Pictured below are my current favorite denim shorts from Walmart that I grabbed at a crazy low price. Since these are juniors denim shorts I went for the size 13 which equals to a womans size 10.

8. Neutral Bodysuit

Summer tops consistent of cotton tees and bodysuits for me! One of my favorite bodysuits comes from Amazon for under $30. The material feels thick and soft at the same time. A neutral bodysuit should be part of your summer rotation to pair with printed shorts and pants.

9. Sun Hat

For any vacation or even a walk outdoors I suggest investing in a sun hat. On our recent Caribbean cruise, I packed a light tan straw hat with me for our resort excursions. This sun hat protected my head, eyes, and face from the harsh sun all day long.

10. Summer Blouse

A light and breezy summer blouse should also have a home in your summer wardrobe. The floral blouse I’m wearing in the photo below was a recent H&M find. I suggest looking for a printed blouse that you like to wear with white shorts for a casual summer daytime look.

H&M has a lot of pretty printed blouses to choose from. My floral billowy blouse is under $18 and looks so effortless! The sleeves make it even more dreamy and feminine.
