10 Summer 2022 Fashion Trends

1. Regencycore/Bridgerton

With the second season of the Netflix show Bridgerton out last month, the regencycore era has taken the fashion world by storm. Regencycore involves a lot of similar styles to cottagecore with pearl accessories, empire-waistlines, statement sleeves, and light colors.

Some of my go-to stores like Express and Amazon have fully embraced the regencycore trend for summer. See below for some recent looks of mine that incorporate this fancy trend!

2. Coastal Grandmother

Another summer trend for 2022? Embracing the “Coastal Grandmother” life that you’ve always dreamed of! Think: Nancy Myers movies and the characters she has created over the years. Diane Keaton wearing over-sized linen shirts, bucket hats, and pastel colors.

3. Crochet

I couldn’t wait to start wearing all the cutest crochet pieces I collected from Walmart on our Caribbean cruise in April. This neutral matching set was one of the first things I packed. With inexpensive Walmart price points, each of these pieces cost only $16.

4. Bold Colors

The last few years have been pretty rough for us all, with the lock down of 2020 encouraging a wave of neutral lounge wear. As things start to get better and more “normal” it’s only fair to switch up our boring neutral wardrobe for one with more bold colors!

Bold colors are another major trend for the summertime. I am personally fully embracing bold colors in my day to day life. For example, I picked up a few bold pink items from Target recently. This criss-cross romper dress caught my attention.

5. Halter Necklines

The Y2K movement has made halter necklines very popular again! I’ve recently shared a few dresses featuring halter necklines here on the blog. One of the best selling Amazon dresses of the summer has a halter neckline that ties in the back. You’ll see it here on me in the pretty orange and pink floral.

With some halter necklines you may find yourself at a loss for what kind of bra to wear. Thankfully, Amazon has the best sticky bras or nipple covers that completely save the day. Whenever I wear a low-cut dress or even a backless dress I opt for these adhesive pasties.

6. One-Shoulder Necklines

One-shoulder or asymmetrical necklines are also trending for the summer season in 2022. Some recent Amazon dresses that I gathered for a try-on haul had cute one-shoulder elements. I’m including a few of those new Amazon dresses (and a jumpsuit) here in this post to give you some ideas on how to wear this trend.

7. All White

A monochrome look can make an outfit go from blah to chic! The white on white trend is a simple way to look sophisticated for the summer. While inside my local Walmart the other day I put together a white-on-white look that I loved! It features a terrycloth polo top with white linen shorts. This goes without saying but make sure the white tones that you choose are similar or else the white-on-white look will not come together.

8. Cut-Outs

Honestly, with how modestly I like to dress, I didn’t see myself wearing anything from the cut-out trend. However, I did find quite the exception with this dark olive green dress from Amazon. For this exact dress I suggest ordering your true size. Cut-outs CAN feel fun even when you like to dress on the more conservative end like I do.

9. Athleisure

As soon as my Abercrombie & Fitch workout set arrives I will include a picture of me wearing it here. Until then, I have rounded up some athleisure or “athletic lesiure” styles in this product collage with clothes from Nordstrom and Abercrombie.

10. Crop Tops

One last summer trend: crop tops. Express has a cute variety of crop tops like this floral one that I’m wearing below. Abercrombie and Fitch ALSO carries a lot of puff-sleeve crop tops that I’ve paired with maxi skirts.
