What to Pack for Winter in Wisconsin
A few weeks ago I took a family trip with Brian up to Wisconsin. This is the furthest North I’ve ever been! I asked around on Instagram and YouTube for help on what to pack for winter in Wisconsin. I am a true Florida girl which means I do not own a lot of winter items. Thankfully, my community helped me narrow down my packing list to the absolute essentials. Of course, I also looked on Instagram for cute winter outfit ideas to feel inspired to dress up a bit!
For our trip to Wisconsin, I also packed a carry on bag. We flew into a regional airport on a budget airline that charges you extra for a checked bag. It was definitely a struggle to fit my thick winter clothes into one carry on bag, but my Beis luggage really comes in handy for these situations.
What to Pack for Winter in Wisconsin
Tops
For tops, I packed a few long sleeve thermal pieces for my trip up north. I purchased a pair of long sleeve thermal underwear from Amazon which kept me nice and warm. It’s important to bring LAYERS with you to a place that has unpredictable cold weather. I also packed a knit henley top from Old Navy to layer underneath my sweaters. I wore a brown knit henley top back in November when I traveled to New York.
Jackets
You can definitely show off your personal style with various jackets during the winter. Even though the winter can feel like a gloomy time of year, why not add some life to your look with a stylish puffer jacket or plaid shirt jacket? While thinking about what to pack for winter in Wisconsin, I chose a puffer jacket from Amazon as well as a tan wool-blend dad coat.
Bottoms
With bottoms, you should consider packing a few different styles. Since faux leather pants are still very much in style, I brought along my Abercrombie faux leather pants to Wisconsin. All I needed to do to add a little extra warmth was wear fleece-lined leggings underneath these faux leather pants. That did the trick! Fleece-lined leggings are a winter must-have. On Amazon, I found a two-pack of fleece-lined leggings for a great price.
Shoes
One of the first winter items I bought for this trip was a new pair of snow boots. I asked my Instagram followers for suggestions on winter clothing must-haves and a lot of them told me to invest in a pair of Sorel winter boots. I looked on Amazon and found the cutest sherpa-lined waterproof snow boots. Not only do I find snow boots an essential shoe for the winter, but I also think bringing along Chelsea boots is a smart move. See my top picks for winter shoes in the slider widget below.
Accessories
An easy way to add some life to your winter outfit would be to add some colorful or trendy accessories. On Amazon I found adorable sherpa teddy mittens and cute fluffy ear muffs. Both of these accessories also keep your hands and head super warm!
