12 Spring Wardrobe Staples for 2023
12 Spring Wardrobe Staples for 2023
Welcome back to Affordable by Amanda. This spring, do you have wardrobe staples that you turn to again and again? As a fashion blogger, I am constantly trying on new clothes from popular retailers like Walmart, Old Navy, and Abercrombie. However, I rarely hold onto every single item that I try on. For the sake of my closet and my wallet, I am definitely learning to limit the amount of clothing that I keep each season.
With this in mind, I am curating more of a capsule wardrobe this spring season. I’ve been trying on clothing for spring since January which means I’ve been able to select a lot of great wardrobe staples to include in this capsule collection. In today’s post you’ll find bodysuits from Abercrombie, denim jeans from Old Navy, and accessories from Walmart that are my own personal spring wardrobe staples. I’ll leave anecdotes underneath each styled look to share why I like each staple item, too.
1. Neutral Bodysuit
During one of my last Abercrombie and Fitch hauls, I kept only a select few items. One of the best purchases I made for that haul is my white bodysuit. It’s a versatile top that pairs well with any short or skirt! I wear a medium in Abercrombie bodysuits. I held onto this specific white Abercrombie bodysuit for its unique neckline style and thick material.
2. High Neck Tank Top
Walmart sells the most amazing high-neck tank tops for incredible prices! I have quite a few of these neutral high-neck tank tops in various colors. On me, I did size down to a small for this exact Walmart ribbed tank top just FYI. How cute does this brown color look paired with printed shorts from Old Navy? Love!
3. Striped Button Down Shirt
Preppy vibes all the way with a striped button down shirt. LOFT has really great work shirts and striped button-down tops for spring. I found this green striped shirt (size small) and immediately needed to have it as a wardrobe staple. For a casual spring look, I paired this green striped shirt with white cut-off denim shorts (also from LOFT size 10).
4. Puffy Slide Sandals
Target has a lot of great stylish, trendy, and inexpensive spring shoe options. I’ve purchased a few slides and sandals from Target recently and want to share them here with you. I’ve styled these off-white puffy slide sandals a few times on my YouTube channel if you want to see me wear them in person.
5. Espadrille Wedges
For a dressed up spring shoe I suggest picking up an espadrille wedge. At Walmart, I found my perfect espadrille wedges for under $30 and they fit true to size.
6. Tailored Shorts
I am including a trendy pair of bottoms in this list of spring staples because tailored shorts have easily become one of the most popular styles for 2023. I’ve been on hunt for my ideal pair of tailored shorts and finally landed on a gorgeous light chambray blue pair from LOFT for under $60. I’m wearing my usual size 10 here but I do recommend sizing down one!
7. Linen Skort or Short
Target finally brought back this linen skort in multiple colors and I couldn’t wait to share it as soon as I saw it back in stock! I really like the fit of this khaki linen skort in my true size. It features a flattering wrap style with a tie on the side.
8. Floral Midi Skirt
Add a bit of pattern to your spring wardrobe this season with a floral printed midi skirt. Abercrombie and Fitch has some of my favorite skirts this year! I found a gorgeous blue and white midi skirt with a floral print for just around $60. The price may be high, but Abercrombie really does make high-quality clothing that makes it worth the splurge.
9. Straight Leg Denim Jeans
Denim jeans are not my first choice when it comes to choosing what bottoms to wear. If you are looking for a great pair of straight leg denim jeans, let me share with you the ONLY jeans I actually enjoy wearing from Old Navy. The OG Straight Leg Denim Jeans do not disappoint. I wear my true size 10 and I have personally owned this same style of jean for 3+ years now. These jeans are comparable to Abercrombie but you can save way more money by investing in the Old Navy ones.
10. White Denim Shorts
A classic pair of bottoms for spring: white denim shorts. LOFT released new shorts and I had to try out a few styles for myself! I was in the LOFT store one day and I took home a size 30 pair of white cut-off denim shorts. You can see how I styled these white denim shorts with a pink bodysuit find from Old Navy for a girly casual look.
11. Basket Weave Satchel Bag
One of the best spring bags I’ve discovered from Walmart this season is this basket weave satchel purse for under $30. It fits SO much inside and there are straps that come with the bag if you want to wear it like a cross body.
12. Smocked Midi Dress
As far as dresses, I can’t recommend a smocked midi dress enough for spring. One perfect smocked dress that I found comes from Old Navy. The soft linen fabric feels soft to the touch. On me I am wearing a medium and styled the neutral midi dress with other neutral accessories.
