How to Style 70s Trends for Spring

Some fashion trends die while some fashion trends make a major comeback. I still can’t get over the fact that Bermuda shorts, yes BERMUDAS, are making their own comeback this year. I’m not sure if that’s a trend I can get on board with just yet, even though Shelbi recently nailed the trend at the Reward Style Conference. Bermuda shorts are what I wore nearly every day in elementary school and that’s all I can picture when I see them.
Onto a Spring trend I’ve embraced: the 70s! It’s so cool that the trends my Mom wore back in her teenage days are returning in 2019. I have these sky-high white boots that I typically style with skirts or dresses and my Mom tells me all the time how much they remind her of a pair she used to own back in the day. The 70s vibe I am going for with this outfit look channels a bohemian chic look. The aesthetics of the 70s embodies freedom and diversity with a mix of eclectic colors and hippie designs.
Of course, Spring is prime time to wear anything with a floral print. You don’t have to remind me of that fact, just take a peek inside my closet to see all of the fun floral printed pieces I have hanging up for the season. To go along with my floral obsessed, this Forever 21 Floral Print Wrap Top ($14.90) makes me imagine the free spirit of the girls living in the 70s.
It’s delicate tulip pattern and self-tie construction show off a romantic and minimalist seventies style. If you want to purchase this top I also suggest sizing up. It’s supposed to be tight fitting, but I wish I wore it in a medium for more room in the sleeves! The combination of flare pants with a fitted top create the ideal seventies outfit for spring this year. That is the best style tip I can give you to easily embrace this popular trend!
I simply can not fail to mention popular seventies styles without discussing the importance of a good pair of flare pants. Luckily for me, I scored these white wide-leg corduroy jeans at Forever 21 on sale. The floral print top came first and then I picked up these cords to accompany it. If you haven’t picked up on the pearl barrette trend, well, now is your chance! Pearl barrettes are THE accessory of the spring and summer seasons. You can find these elegant barrettes for under $10.
