Wet n Wild Drugstore Makeup: What’s On My Face?
Wet n Wild Makeup | New Arrivals 2020
Brand new drugstore makeup keeps filling up the beauty aisles at my favorite retailers for Spring! Last week, I stopped by Walmart to do a little snooping around. Walmart has the best variety of beauty brand names in addition to their own lines of makeup and skincare. Wet n Wild caught my attention with the pink “New Look” stickers.
Since watching a recent YouTube video from Tati Westbrook, I was intrigued to test out some of the latest Wet n Wild launches. She’s known for creating affordable drugstore makeup looks as well as providing her viewers with honest first impressions. After watching her positive review of the Wild Breakup Proof Waterproof Retracractable Wet n Wild Eyeliner, I grabbed one for myself.
After choosing an eyeliner, I browsed through my options for liquid foundation. The winning foundation shade for me from the brand new Wet N Wild Photo Focus Foundation was “Nude Ivory” for the right color to match my light skin tone. Honestly, I predicted this $5 foundation to be a winner from the start. The original version also holds a spot in my everyday makeup collection as a top choice.
There were a couple of choices for primers. After narrowing down my options to 2, I went with the Wet N Wild Prime Focus Hydrating Primer Serum. A lightweight and ultra-hydrating formula? This girl needs some for her dry skin! Maybe I just picked it up because it’s pink, too. Haha!
Wet n Wild Makeup | My Reviews of Each Product
1.Wet n Wild Prime Focus Hydrating Primer Serum
This hydrating serum felt cooling and easy to blend onto the skin. The formula WAS lightweight (as promised) and definitely helped smooth out the foundation onto my face.
I’ll be needing to use it a couple more times to really see how it works underneath other foundations, however, with the dewy foundation I am pleased when looking at the end results with the selfies I took. My foundation appears even, patch-free, and my skin looks well-hydrated.
2.Wet n Wild Photo Focus Dewy Light Shades Foundation (Nude Ivory)
If you want a foundation to wear for a long night out, GET THIS! Truly, I can’t say anything bad about this foundation. Just look at it on my skin in the photo above! What do you think?
When testing the formula out with flash photos I also noticed how matte and poreless my skin looks. For events where you know flash photography will be around, definitely pick this $5.00 foundation up from Walmart. Seriously! Even for future brides, I’d recommend wearing this foundation for the best-looking skin, EVER! No doubt I’ll be packing this for my trips planned as a wedding guest, too.
3.Wet n Wild Photo Focus Loose Setting Powder
Appyling a loose setting powder to my face after a liquid foundation really sets in the entire makeup look. Most of the time I skip this step because I don’t have enough time in the morning.
While testing out the loose setting powder from Wet n Wild, the finely milled product smoothed over my skin to lock in my foundation. I also need to credit this loose powder for adding a subtly blurred satin finish with a soft-focus effect. Once again, if you are looking for the perfect combo for a night of flash photography, apply the Wet N Wild Photo Focus Foundation in conjunction with this loose setting powder in translucent.
4. Wet n Wild Color Icon Blush (Mellow Wine)
A $3.00 blush?! Oh, Wet n Wild you’ve done it AGAIN! Inside Walmart, I looked high and low for the right blush shade from this brand. Mellow Wine ended up in my cart. Achieving a healthy-looking flush to my skin felt easy with a few swipes of this pressed blush. Swirling this blush along my cheekbones gave me the right amount of color I needed to brighten up my look.
5. Wet n Wild Ultimate Brow Retract (Medium Brown)
For someone with dark red hair, I am VERY picky when it comes to choosing the best eyebrow pencils. Most of the eyebrow pencils that I purchase are meant for makeup users with red hair, AKA the auburn shades are what I take home with me. While shopping at Walmart for this Wet n Wild review, I didn’t find any auburn shades.
A medium brown shade was the only option for me. Turns out, this shade worked out nicely for me! It added a price and defined look to my brows that I like to achieve in the morning when I do my makeup. A spoolie brush at the other end of this eyebrow pencil helped me fluff up my brows to add some lift. At $3.00, this is a great affordable option for an eyebrow pencil.
6. Wet n Wild Mega Glow Blushlighter
Need just the right amount of glow on your cheekbones? Check out this blushlighter from Wet n Wild. As a new product launch, I am happy to report that this palette impressed me. The light golden shade ended up as the shade I loved the most! I took a fluffy blush and dipped a little bit of golden product to layer over my face. This blushlighter gave me a stunning luminous glow.
7. Wet n Wild Megalast Breakup-Proof Liquid Eyeliner
Above you can read how much I ended up loving the new dewy liquid foundation from Wet n Wild, and in addition to that foundation, I also absolutely loved the Megalast Breakup-Proof Liquid Eyeliner! 10/10 would recommend this eyeliner. On Target you can see how many positive reviews this product received and I would have to agree with those great reviews.
Liquid eyeliners can dry out way too quickly and this formula has a slick wet formula that makes it glide beautifully on top of your eyelid. One of my favorite eyeliners from Sephora is the Kat Von D Tattoo Liner and this $5.00 Wet n Wild eyeliner compares to that one in my book.
8.Wet n Wild Drugstore Makeup: Color Icon 10-Pan Eyeshadow Palette (Not a Basic Peach)
Wet n Wild eyeshadow palettes do the trick for any eye look you wish to achieve. From day to night, I swear by these 10-pan palettes on a regular basis to deliver flattering looks that compliment my blue eyes. A rather new palette option for me was “Not a Basic Peach” with a mix of silky pink, gold, rust, and creamy neutrals. This palette has ALL the best colors you need to create a beautiful eye look for work or play.
The Colors I Used on My Eyes:
I applied the matte rust shade all over my eyelids. Next, I applied the darker “transition” shade found at the bottom of this palette in the outer corners. To add some golden glimmer to my eyes, I applied the shimmery gold shade in the middle of my lids. To add even more definition to the outer corners I went back in with the darker matte purple “definer” shade.
9. Wet n Wild Mega Protein Mascara
Enjoy soft, natural-looking lashes when you use a couple of strokes of this $2.00 mascara from Wet n Wild. The soft helix brush creates long lashes in seconds by lengthening and coating each lash with black pigment.
10. Wet n Wild Mega Last High Shine Lip (Mad for Mauve)
The only place I could find this lipstick is on Amazon! I think it’s a very new product for Wet n Wild. Luckily, my Walmart had a bunch of these in stock and I’m sure your Walmart will soon, too. The adorable packaging sold me (oops, I am a SUCKER for cute packaging!) and I ultimately took home the color “Mad for Mauve” which looked like a creamy light purple.
You can tell the formula feels nourishing as promised the second you glide it on your lips. The smooth formula lingers for a bit well after you first apply it. I love how creamy and non-drying it feels! The pointed tip helps glide the lipstick across your top lip very nicely with excellent precision. I’d recommend trying out this shade and I also can’t wait to get my hands on more!
The One Product I Ended Up NOT Loving?
11. Wet n Wild MegaGlo Dual-Ended Contour Stick
Oof, this product did NOT go well for me. The dual-ended stick appeared to be a good tool to carve out some contour on my face. However, upon application, the darker end stuck to my face and would NOT budge.
I didn’t leave the product on for long at all, so I am not sure what went wrong. The product did not want to blend out once on my face. Instead of adding some much-needed warmth to my face, I had to cover up the mishap with more foundation. Unfortunately, this product became such a fail once I tried to blend it out.
Have you tried any Wet n Wild products that you now love using?
