Hello, hello! Styling a black poncho today and sharing how to wear one for fall. During a recent outing to Old Navy, I tried on this black poncho wrap before buying it to see how it looked on my body. The only size available was “one size” so I was curious to see how it would look.

It’s a piece I don’t have in my Fall collection right now. After seeing Amanda from Strawberry Chic style a poncho a couple of different ways, I decided to pick one up for myself.

How to Wear a Black Poncho Wrap

Styling a poncho seems intimidating to me! A poncho wrap can look overpowering if not worn correctly. I didn’t want to wear a poncho and drown in it, ha. Luckily, my black poncho wrap from Old Navy (one size) hits me right where I need it to. In my head, I could picture myself wearing a denim mini skirt and knee-high boots with my new solid black poncho.

How to Wear a Black Poncho Wrap: Add a Printed Top

With my new solid black poncho, I chose to wear a leopard-printed top. My luxe crewneck tee (also an Old Navy find!) feels incredibly soft, too. It’s a nice way to stay in tune with a neutral color palette.

This Old Navy tee tucked easily into my denim skirt. Even if you don’t want to wear a leopard-printed top, I’d suggest wearing a solid white henley or tan crewneck sweater.

How to Wear a Black Poncho Wrap: Wear a Mini Skirt

Along with my comfy leopard-printed top, I have a button-front denim mini skirt on in this Fall outfit look. While at home determining what type of skirt to wear with the black poncho I was toying with the idea of pairing my cream H&M faux leather skirt.

However, I ultimately went with a denim button-front skirt because I wanted to style a completely casual approach to wearing a black poncho out and about this season. Jean skirts are also a great basic piece to have on hand, such as this $35 option from Old Navy.

Tips for Finding the Best Black Poncho

According to Glamour, ponchos are one of the top trends for Fall 2020. Right now, I’m seeing a surge of ponchos making their online presence known for the season. The best black ponchos are currently stocked up at Old Navy, Abercrombie, and Target.
