My Honest Review of Beautycounter

Have you ever heard of the beauty brand called Beautycounter before? Beautycounter makes safe and CLEAN skin and makeup products. My friend Emily really introduced me to the best of Beautycounter a few months ago. I recently made my first purchase to see what the brand could offer me in terms of clean beauty.

Why Use Beautycounter Products?

Beautycounter takes into consideration a higher standard of safety and quality in mind when developing their skin care and makeup products. There are over 1,800 banned ingredients that all Beautycounter products will NEVER contain.

If you have sensitive skin, I recommend checking out their products. Beautycounter offers skin care, makeup, deodorant, sun protection and so much more. As someone in the digital space, I knew I had to see what the hype was all about surrounding this emerging clean beauty brand.

What I Bought From Beautycounter

In my first online order from Beautycounter, I bought one tube of Countersun Mineral Sunscreen Lotion SPF 30 and one bottle of Countermatch Adaptive Moisture Lotion.

After spending the afternoon at the beach with Emily, I realized that I needed to order myself some sunscreen from Beautycounter for the summer.

For just under $40, I chose a tube of Countersun Mineral Sunscreen Lotion SPF 30 to help me stay safe outside.

The Countersun Mineral Sunscreen Lotion SPF 30 contains safe and effective clean ingredients to aid in defense against UVA and UVB rays. It contains 19% Zinc Oxide for optimal sun protection.

A lot of people are sensitive to the most common sunscreen ingredients, octinoxate and oxybenzone. Beautycounter never uses these two ingredients because they are also harmful to coral reefs.

My Honest Review of Beautycounter Sunscreen

Once I finally had a beach day to look forward to, I packed up my sunscreen from Beautycounter into my beach bag. At first, the lotion goes on pretty white, so you need to rub it into your arms and legs for bit until it disappears.

The sunscreen takes a few minutes to fully disappear, but once it does, you don’t even feel it on your skin like you would with a normal sunscreen product. I could enjoy my beach day knowing I was safely covered up in sunscreen. After two hours had passed, I reapplied the lotion to my arms and legs for even more protection.

Another skin care product that I purchased from Beautycounter remains in my night time skin care routine to this day. I keep a bottle of Countermatch Adaptive Moisture Lotion  on my bathroom counter to reach for once I’ve cleansed my skin from makeup and impurities.

From the first night of using 2 pumps of Countermatch Adaptive Moisture Lotion on my dry skin, I loved it!

The consistency of this moisturizer feels in-between thick and thin. It has just enough weight to feel effective, but it dries almost instantly once rubbed onto the face in circular motions. In the morning, I’ll also apply a little bit of this moisture lotion before my makeup. The lotion works into my skin quickly and helps my foundation stay put all day long!

Beautycounter: The Clean Deo Honest Review

If you’re a long-time reader of Affordable by Amanda, then you surely know a bit about my journey to switching over to natural deodorants. One of my go-to natural deodorants comes from the brand Native.

With natural deodorant, I’ve learned (and read) how important it is to constantly switch up your natural deo. I typically switch up my natural deodorants every 6 months to continue fighting body odor.

Since I already use natural deodorant on a regular basis there was no need for me to detox my underarms. If you are transitioning your body from traditional deodorant to a natural one, I do highly recommend performing a detox under your pits 2-3 times per week before applying natural deodorant to prep your skin.

To detox your pits, use the Megababe Happy Pits Detoxifying Underarm Mask. This underarm mask pulls out bad toxins with active ingredients such as glycolic acid, willow bark extract & tea tree oil.

I’ll be purchasing this clean deodorant again! Of course, with two other scents to try out, I have to go for the coconut or lavender in my next purchase.
