Button Down Shirt
A classic work wear piece? The crisp button down shirt. Nowadays you can find a button down shirt at affordable places such as Old Navy and Walmart. At Old Navy I ended up finding my perfect blue striped button down shirt for under $20. I’m styling it here with cream trousers and a neutral belt to complete this office ready look.
Printed Blouse
In terms of tops, having a printed blouse will be a work essential during the summer. Instead of a long sleeve top, I would opt for a lightweight puff sleeve blouse with a print that fits your personal style. I recently shared a Gibsonlook work wear try on with a brown and white neutral blouse (pictured below) to complement my own wardrobe style.
Shirt Dress
Among pants and tops, I think including a shirt dress in your work wardrobe ought to be another summer essential. Look for a cotton or linen fabric when choose a summer shirt dress. There’s a few white eyelet shirt dresses available right now at Walmart and Old Navy for you to check out.
Linen Blazer
If you work at a corporate office it’s without a doubt that you own at least one blazer. During the warmer months, it’s vital to switch up the fabric of your office blazer for something lighter. Linen blazers are just what you need to feel work appropriate without compromising on comfort.
Linen fabrics are ideal for warm weather as they are quick to absorb moisture and don’t weigh you down. I found a gorgeous cream over sized blazer at Old Navy the other day and have been styling it quite a few times here on the blog and YouTube.
Trousers
A quintessential pair of pants for the office: trousers. Now if you are on a budget, I highly recommend looking at Target for lightweight and affordable trousers. I have the brown and cream colors of these wide-leg trouser pants from Target in a size 8. These wide-leg trouser pants are a gauzy material that feel airy and breathable for the summer!
Neutral Tank Top
A basic layering piece for work during the summer is a tank top. You should find one that has a flattering neckline such as a square neckline or a classic scoop-neck style. The white top I am wearing with my satin midi skirt is a favorite from Abercrombie & Fitch. Abercrombie has high-quality tops in various colors with stretchy fabric, too. Mine is called the Cropped Seamless Fabric Portrait Top. I believe the best tank tops are seamless ones that are compressive to define your silhouette.
Midi Skirt
On work days when you don’t feel like wearing dressy pants, might I suggest wearing a satin midi skirt. Some of the best satin midi skirts are available for affordable prices on Amazon and Old Navy. In fact, I just bought a neutral satin midi skirt for under $40 on Old Navy during a huge sale. The neutral brown tone to this midi skirt from Old Navy feels dressed up for the office.
Mules
A practical shoe for the office is a mule slide. These flat shoes are comfortable and can elevate a rather simple look. Amazon and Walmart have great chain mule loafers for under $50 so you don’t have to spend too much money on these shoes.
Block Heels
A dressy shoe option for the office would be a pair of block heels. These are a gorgeous pair of neutral block heels from Target that are under $40.
