The red bougainvillea bushes around Downtown St. Petersburg are starting to come back to life which tells me that Spring will arrive soon. To kick off the start of Spring fashion, I am bringing you a brand new style post to share one of my go-to pieces: floral midi skirts. Back in the Fall, I would style satin midi skirts (like this one from Topshop) with oversized sweaters and ankle boots. With the Spring season ahead, I am switching out my oversized sweaters for cotton tops and my ankle booties for platform shoes.
Why Do I Love Midi Skirts?
The midi skirt looks stylish for almost any occasion. Midi skirts are a great piece to own for a multitude of reasons. A lightweight chiffon midi skirt has the potential to feel extremely comfortable during the daytime as Spring turns into Summer, too. The last thing I want to wear is a tight pair of denim jeans when the Spring season settles here in Florida. My affordable ($22.00) midi skirt from Target has a mix of pretty pastel pink and purple flowers all over (check out the rest of my popular Target try-on haul to see more Spring finds). Thankfully, an attached slip layers underneath this flowy midi skirt for extra coverage.
How To Style Midi Skirts For Spring
Depending on the type of flowy midi skirt that you purchase, a midi skirt looks best paired with a solid colored basic top. When I see a printed midi skirt, wearing a simple top keeps the look balanced. Although this purple long-sleeve top has a saying on it, I figured it looked pretty simple. The encouraging “Take It Easy” phrase stood out to me while browsing through the Wild Fable section of Target. For size reference, I went up to a large for an oversized look. The graphic long-sleeve top worn in this post also runs in juniors sizing.
- Pair a floral midi skirt with a basic white or black bodysuit
- Midi skirts look great with cardigans worn as tops
- Wear your midi skirt with a graphic t-shirt, as I did for this styled outfit post
- Floral midi skirts also look fab with solid colored crewneck sweaters in the same color family
