My Heat-Proof Makeup Routine

Hey, friend! Not sure how hot it is by you, but here in St. Pete it’s constantly scorching outside! August has the highest temperatures for us in Florida. Most days I skip wearing any makeup altogether because it’ll end up sliding down my face.

However, I do have a few events to look forward to this month, which is why I need to share how I keep my makeup looking fresh as possible during a heat wave. Two events that I am attending include a wedding in Georgia and a party for my Grandma’s birthday in late August. Both of these events will require a full-face of makeup for hours of talking to people and taking photos.

A few months back I shared my current makeup routine. For the summertime I switch up only a few items that I am sharing with you today. Of course, I always start out any makeup routine with Supergoop! sunscreen as a first step. 1. Tarte Cosmetics Clean Slate Blur Balm

The latest trend in primers this year? Putty-like balms! We saw this trend explode over on TikTok with the discovery of the e.l.f. Putty Primer. I purchased the e.l.f. 2. Beautycounter Skin Twin Featherweight Foundation

For special events, I typically pull out my top foundations to apply for a full-face of makeup. One of my recent purchases was a bottle of Featherweight Foundation from the clean beauty brand, Beautycounter. Ever since testing out a small sample of this product I knew I eventually wanted to splurge on the full-size.

For my natural skin tone I wear the shade “Fair 110” which easily blends out using my fingertips. What I truly enjoy the most from this foundation is the fact that it feels lightweight but looks appears full-coverage.

3. Rare Beauty by Selena Gomez Discovery Eyeshadow Palette

When I am traveling later this month the eyeshadow palette I’ll be packing with me is a Rare Beauty by Selena Gomez favorite: the True to Myself Discovery Eyeshadow Palette. What caught my attention about this eyeshadow palette was the mix of warm tones and shimmers. The gold topper shade instantly pulls any eye look together for a special event.

Selena Gomez designed this stunning $29 eyeshadow palette to take you from day to night. The shades vary in color and offer a crease-resistant formula which makes them long-lasting during the summer months. Before applying any eyeshadow, I use an eyeshadow primer called Shadow Insurance Eye Shadow Primer from Too Faced and let it dry down for five minutes.

4. Benefit Cosmetics BADgal BANG! Volumizing Mascara

To beat the heat while looking your best in August you’ve got to invest in a great sweat-proof mascara! Some of my favorite sweat-proof products are from Benefit Cosmetics, including their BADgal BANG! mascara to lengthen and coat my invisible lashes.

The formula of this Benefit mascara has water-resistant and smudge-proof qualities to it for under $30. The wand on the end of this mascara has a thin but powerful bristles. I love how long and thin the wand is to make applying more coats of this product a breeze.

5. Flower Beauty Seal The Deal Luminzing Setting Spray

One of the final steps in any solid summer makeup routine is to set everything in place. To achieve this, I rely on a setting spray.
