5 Outdoor Patio Upgrades to Make This Spring

Today I’m sharing 5 outdoor patio upgrades to make this Spring.
We’ve been spending more and more time outside in the backyard these days. Nothing better to do, eh? I’ve also been scrolling through Instagram finding inspiration from other chic bloggers’ outdoor patios, such as Sabrina’s (Gypsy Tan) colorful boho style.
With the continuing quarantine stay-at-home order in full effect this month, I am thankful now more than ever that I recently ordered a Bench 2 Table Convert-a-Bench from HSN for the backyard. As soon as it arrived Brian and I quickly assembled it together to move to the backyard. As with most of the positive online reviews, I totally agree with the people who say this bench was exactly what they’ve been looking for.
The cement slab outside was put in before B moved in and it’s a great section of the yard for us to decorate and create a peaceful escape for fresh air. We have more to do with the open patio space obviously, but for now, it’s great having a comfortable place to sit and relax at the end of the day! These are 5 outdoor patio upgrades to make this spring to bring your backyard to life (on a budget!).
1. Bench 2 Table Convert-A-Bench, $124
As seen on the HSN website, there are 3 color options to choose from when ordering a Bench 2 Table. After reviewing my options, Driftwood became the winning color for my backyard inspiration. Placing the Bench 2 Table in the cement square of the backyard gave me the creative freedom I wanted to imagine a whole new area filled with patio furniture and other decorative pieces.
2. Outdoor Decorative Throw Pillows, $18
Once the bench took its place, I also needed to add some fun throw pillows. My goal with the backyard patio area? Finding affordable decorative pieces to bring a boho and modern vibe to the backyard. The pillows I ultimately chose were from Target under the Opalhouse brand. Search for “Outdoor Decorative Throw Pillow White/Brown – Opalhouse™” and you’ll find my exact pillows on Target’s website. My pillows are currently on sale for $18.00, too!
3. Fiddleleaf Tree, $43
The comfy pillows really help bring my inspiration to life! Adding them to either side of the Bench 2 Table felt like the right choice. Along with new pillows, a fake fiddle leaf tree also made its way over to the backyard for some greenery. Two of the best places to find faux fiddle leaf trees are HSN and Walmart. My exact South Street Loft 5′ Fiddle Leaf Tree in Nursery Planter cost under $50 from HSN.
Placing the fiddleleaf tree at the end of the bench completed my current outdoor set up for now. Once this fiddleleaf tree arrived, I had to inbox it and fluff out the leaves to make it look more natural.
Don’t miss a couple more fiddle leaf trees that are affordable
4. Neutral Outdoor Rug, $135
Another item I’m excited to purchase to add to the backyard patio area includes an area rug. A neutral-colored one will look great in conjunction with my neutral bench and throw pillows. I’ve been searching online, especially at Target, for the PERFECT area rug to fill the open spot. Our cement patio square measures at 7×10 so I’m looking for any cute neutral-colored rugs to fit.
My top contender has small diamond shapes all over it with a neutral tan color. Right now the size I need for the patio will cost me $135 because it’s marked down 25%.

5. Outdoor Patio Umbrella, $100-$140
A final touch to any outdoor patio should contain some type of umbrella covering. We have the right bench, pillows, and extra greenery for our patio and the 2 pieces missing are an outdoor rug and patio umbrella. Some of the coolest canopy patio umbrellas from Target are on sale right now, too. I’m specifically looking at the outdoor canopy umbrellas with LED lights attached to it! Check out this one that’s currently marked down to less than $100 at Target. I like the tan and white stripes design on this canopy umbrella.
