Fall Capsule Wardrobe 2022

A lot of my fall capsule wardrobe features new arrivals from Nordstrom, Walmart, Amazon, and Express. These are my top favorite retailers to shop at for fall fashion in particular. Capsule wardrobes are great for putting outfits together with minimal effort. I am excited to share the key pieces that make up this fall capsule wardrobe with you today.

Bodysuits

A bodysuit makes transitioning your outfits from summer to fall a lot easier. As someone who lives in Florida, I am living in a bodysuit pretty much year round. For the fall season, I’ll wear a neutral bodysuit like the one seen below with straight-leg denim jeans. Check on Amazon for my top-rated bodysuit that I now own in two colors.

If you don’t wish to look on Amazon, then might I suggest taking a peek over at Express. In the past I’ve had a lot of success with seamless and stretchy bodysuits from Express. This is a new neutral bodysuit that I am eyeing from Express and also featuring here in my capsule wardrobe collage.

Long Sleeve Tops

A simple yet essential item for any fall capsule wardrobe is a long sleeve top. The long sleeve top that you use for you capsule wardrobe doesn’t have to be too expensive as it’s basically just a layering piece. You can easily find a white long sleeve top from Walmart or Amazon at an affordable price.

The fall season finds us all struggling to figure out what to wear when the weather shifts during the day. A long sleeve top makes the most sense to layer with as you can feel the most comfortable in a breathable cotton top.

Sweaters

When I think of the fall season I immediately think about what cute and cozy sweaters I’ll be wearing! A sweater is a fall must-have. Boatneck sweaters and v-neck sweaters are two classic sweaters to have in your fall capsule wardrobe.

You can take a simple, neutral sweater and wear it with denim jeans, faux leather pants, the plaid midi skirt I shared in this collage, and even the mini skirt. I’d say the more neutral the better! Neutral tones like cream, beige, tan, and light brown are perfect to have in your fall wardrobe collection.

Printed Dresses

Date nights and dressy events are going to inevitably happen during the fall which is why I want to include a printed dress in this capsule. Pick out one pretty printed dress that fits your personal style.

Cardigans

Cozy cardigans are important fall staples. You can wear a cardigan with a camisole tank top and jeans for a casual fall look. Recently I found an amazing neutral knit cardigan from Target (as seen here) that will definitely be a favorite in the fall.

Boyfriend cardigans and open-front cardigans are two different styles that I like.

Shirt Jackets

Shirt jackets, or shackets, are back again for fall 2022. On Amazon I purchased a new plaid shirt jacket for under $38 to wear this season. A shirt jacket can be versatile with different pant options and even with a faux suede mini skirt.

Moto Jackets

One more outerwear item to include in a fall capsule collection is a moto jacket. During Amazon Prime Day, I picked up a vegan faux leather moto jacket from The Drop. If you like the look of this cognac moto jacket I would order your true size.

Outfit ideas with a faux leather moto jacket include: wearing a bodysuit, moto jacket, and jeans. Another outfit idea with a faux leather moto jacket is to pair it with a white long sleeve top and a long skirt.

Sweater Dresses

In case you want to trade out your printed dress for something more basic, I wanted to include a sweater dress in this capsule. Recently, I bought a beautiful ribbed sweater dress from Amazon that fits my fall capsule collection beautifully! It will pair nicely with a moto jacket, long wool coat, and cardigan.

Recently I purchased a gray and brown plaid blazer from Kohl’s to add to my own fall wardrobe. Mine fits true to size in the size medium for reference. I styled it with a simply white bodysuit and dark brown faux leather trousers.

Faux Leather Pants

One of the biggest trends we’ll see for fall 2022 includes faux leather. I threw in a pair of faux leather pants from Nordstrom in this capsule collection as a fun option! Personally, I like to pair either bold tops or simple sweaters with faux leather bottoms.

Straight Leg Denim Jeans

You’ll find me back in my same pair of Old Navy jeans once again this fall season. Straight-leg denim is a huge fall trend and I am loving it! These are my go-to jeans for fall and winter. Old Navy jeans fit true to size and the pair I have on is called the O.G. Straight Leg Jeans in my usual size 10. I’ve owned this same pair of straight leg jeans for 2 years now and they still hold up after washing them multiple times, too.

Long Skirts

When the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale came around this past July, I immediately fell in love with this neutral plaid midi skirt from VERO MODA. Long skirts and long hemlines are on trend for this fall season. To stay on trend while creating a capsule wardrobe, I suggest looking for a neutral skirt like this one from VERO MODA.

You don’t have to order this exact skirt from Nordstrom, but check out Target or Amazon for a similar silhouette. In this outfit, I wore my midi skirt with a white sweater and faux leather moto jacket with neutral booties.
