Best Hair Products For Oily Scalp
It’s been some time since I posted an updated hair care routine. This year I have changed up my current hair care routine to include more oily scalp friendly products to combat my scalp issues. Most of these products that I talk about here are available at the drugstore, Target, or ULTA.
I’ve included a mix of shampoo, conditioner, styling products, styling tools, and finishing touches that all work together to give me hydrated and healthy hair. All of these products are part of hair routine and are what I consider the best hair products for oily scalp.
Shampoo and Conditioners for an Oily Scalp
Shampoo
Headquarters Oil-Away Shampoo for Oily Scalp and Hair
I randomly tried this brand one day while out on a Walmart grocery run. My scalp needed a good wash and this inexpensive Walmart find helped me out that same night. The oil-away shampoo left my hair completely clean feeling without any residue. If your scalp needs a nice deep clean, I definitely recommend looking into the Headquarters brand that’s easily available at your local Walmart.
Ouai Detox Shampoo
Once a week I will use Ouai Detox Shampoo to deeply clean my scalp after a day of styled hair. The Ouai Detox Shampoo gets rid of the product build-up and also smells incredible while I use it on the top of my head for a relaxing shower experience. Since this product has a higher price point, I typically refrain from using it too often. Once a week does the trick for my oily scalp to rejuvenate my fine hair and leave it feeling refreshed.
Conditioner
Puracy Conditioner with Citrus & Mint
A new brand that I discovered while looking through the aisles of Target: Puracy. With Puracy, I was intrigued by the clean ingredients list, low price, and citrus scent. One again I completely fell in love with a new brand that I purchased while out grocery shopping! I had no intention of discovering an amazing hair care brand, but I am so glad I wound up buying a few products from Puracy to give a try on my oily scalp. The Puracy conditioner rinses out nicely at the end of my shower and leaves my ends feeling hydrated.
Styling Products I Use
Its A 10 Miracle Leave-In Lite Spray
As for styling my hair, I use a few products before reaching for my curling wand. After the shower I will spray It’s a 10 Miracle Leave-In Lite 4-5 times mostly at the bottom half of my hair. If you have an oily scalp then you know how important it is to never apply product directly to the top of your head. Whenever I apply product to my scalp it ends up making my hair oilier! Keep this leave-in product away from your scalp so you can prevent additional product build-up. I use the lite version of this popular product because it doesn’t weigh my hair down once I apply it.
Briogeo Scalp Revival Charcoal + Biotin Dry Shampoo
A hair line that I’ve loved for years is Briogeo. Sometimes they send me new products to test out because I am a social media influencer. When they sent me their collection of scalp revival products I knew I would end up liking them with my hair type. If you have extra time and want my full review of Briogeo Scalp Revival products head to this popular blog post for more information. For now, I have to highlight their dry shampoo because it’s completely revolutionary! This airy powdered dry shampoo does not contain harmful benzene and works quickly to absorb excess oil on your scalp.
Eva Nyc Freshen Up Invisible Dry Shampoo
Another dry shampoo favorite that I recently found at ULTA: Eva NYC Dry Shampoo. I’ve tried Eva NYC leave-in products before and definitely enjoyed using them. When it comes to dry shampoo, I am looking for products with clean ingredients and ease of use. Eva Nyc Dry Shampoo works as well as the Briogeo one in my opinion. For $13, you get a large amount of product in one can. I also really like the smell of this dry shampoo as it lingers long after you use it in your roots.
Styling Tools I Use
Wet Brush
The only hair brush brand I use is Wet Brush. Since I have both oily and fine hair, I need to use a hair brush that detangles gently. Wet Brushes are excellent for brushing your hair immediately out of the shower, too. My Wet Brush collection continues to grow as I have a few different variations depending on what I need. When using a hair dryer I like to use my Wet Brush Speed Dry Detangler Brush to help keep dry my hair faster.
Kirstin Ess Curling Wand
My old curling wand was with me up until a few years ago when I finally upgraded to the Krisin Ess Curling Wand at ULTA. Now I use this all the time to create beautiful curls in minutes! The wand heats up to 425 degrees and has an auto shut off after 30 minutes of no use. I really enjoy this curling wand and don’t see myself buying a new one for quite some time.
Kristin Ess Signature Hairspray
After curling my hair with my wand, I like to complete the look with hairspray from Kristin Ess. One of my favorite hairsprays is the Signature Hairspray because it has a medium hold, light mist, and brushable capabilities.
