Hotel Review: The Alida Hotel Savannah
What a fab weekend! After returning home back to St. Pete yesterday, I am happy to be snuggling on the couch with Simba and Chance. Our long weekend to Savannah was absolutely unforgettable. Savannah has so many quirks and beautiful townhomes lined with green climbing vines. My heart was so full walking through the city and checking out the local restaurants, gift shops, and rooftop bars. Savannah took us roughly 6 hours to get to from St. Pete. We stuck to our GPS, listened to some Spotify tunes, and stopped at Kahwa for snacks before venturing off up north!
In today’s post, I am sharing my hotel review of The Alida Hotel where we stayed for two nights in Savannah. I am also sharing a couple of helpful ways to spend 48 hours in Savannah if you are planning a trip soon. Savannah has tons of hotels and inns to choose from! Most of these accommodations are within walking distance of one another. While planning for my birthday weekend, I found plenty of hotel options. Disclaimer: The Alida Hotel responded to my request to partner together and I was offered a media rate to stay two nights on their property. All opinions are my own.
The Alida Hotel Location
We couldn’t have picked a better place to stay 2 nights in Savannah because The Alida property sits along the riverfront. The location of The Alida also makes you feel a little off the main road which I appreciated while unloading my car for the weekend. All of the stores and restaurants are within walking distance of the hotel property for easy access. The rooftop bar of The Alida offers a spectacular view of the Historic District. Visiting the rooftop for sunset won’t disappoint!

The Alida Hotel Guest Suites
Obviously, when booking any room for a weekend stay, the rooms are in question. For our room on the 3rd floor, we walked into 2 king-sized beds, a bathroom, and a window bench with long curtains. While looking for a place to stay in Savannah I saw the bright and airy look of The Alida rooms and felt drawn to the mix of the modern and timeless decor. Check out the complimentary robe found hanging up in one of the closets! The Alida also kindly gifted me with a pretty marbleized pink mug for my birthday.
The guest room we called home for two nights had plenty of space for us to relax and enjoy time hanging out with Chance, our pup. Yes, the property is pet-friendly! The shower was spacious and the complimentary amenities smelled amazing with hints of amber and wood. Our guest room featured a mini-fridge tucked underneath the window bench and our room was conveniently located right outside of the hydration station that offered cold water on tap. The plush bedding and cloud-like pillows felt exceptional after a long day of exploring the city. We slept great both nights. Southern tradition with contemporary design best describes The Alida guest rooms.
What We Did in Savannah
Of course, in addition to talking about our stay at The Alida Hotel, I want to mention a few highlights of our trip! Thanks to our convenient hotel location, we walked all over the city on Saturday. After waking up around 9:30, we got dressed for the day and ventured out to find breakfast. From reading through recommendations sent to me via DM and after learning where to eat from my friend Sara, it took us roughly 20 minutes to end up at Collins Quarter for breakfast.
The Collins Quarter
Oh, wow. The food and drinks at The Collins Quarter were delicious! We sat down within minutes and my lavender mocha latte arrived soon after. *photo sesh with said latte commenced* What a charming breakfast spot in the middle of Savannah. The wait times do tend to affect customers as the morning goes on, so I recommend either arriving at off-peak times (10:00 am or earlier) so you beat the rush as we did. I ate the Bananas Foster french toast which turned out sweet and buttery, mmm! If we had more time during the weekend to come back and experience their brunch for one more time I would have done that, too.
Leopold’s Ice Cream
After dinner, we headed over to Leopold’s for dessert. This ice cream shop holds a lot of tradition in the Savannah area and plenty of locals line up to enjoy a refreshing ice cream cone from Leopold’s. The old-school parlor offers premium ice cream flavors such as rum bisque, tutti fruitti, honey almond, and lemon custard using fresh local ingredients. Most of the ice cream flavors that contain nuts include local Georgia pecans. I ordered the chocolate chewies & cream flavor in a cup. We sat inside the ice cream parlor and Brian spotted a jukebox. He put in a quarter and the song that started to play was “Happy Birthday” which was so sweet because we were celebrating my birthday! It was the best way to end a night out in Savannah for sure.
Explore City Market
Another great tradition of Savannah includes exploring City Market. A great local spot to buy cookies filled with pecan clusters is Byrd’s. Byrd’s Famous Cookies are available right in the heart of City Market where you can try one of their signature gourmet cookies. The City Market has gift shops, restaurants, and bars to invite you to stay awhile. We ventured to the City Market on Saturday afternoon with Chance on a leash to explore the area a bit more. Live music entertained us while we roamed in and out of the shops.
Ghost Tours
Did you know that Savannah has ghost tours? It turns out the entire city is haunted! A spooky ghost tour needs to top your list as a visitor to Savannah. Spooky ghost tours take you through the city (by foot or by hearse) while your tour guide fills you in the local paranormal activity. We booked a nighttime ghost tour where we sat in a hearse and heard ghost stories as we zipped through the town squares. Plan a ghost tour as one of the first things you do when you arrive in Savannah after unloading your bags. A nighttime ghost tour shows you around the city to familiarize yourself with the city layout.
Parker’s Market Urban Gourmet Downtown
Alright, so I am about to fill you in on one of the best gas stations/convenience stores I’ve ever stopped in. Parker’s Market goes beyond the normal average gas station. This gourmet market sells fresh-baked bakery items, fresh panini sandwiches, a gift shop, and the best variety of snacks. It’s an award-winning gas station, friends. In addition to some tasty snacks, I also bought pampas grass for my bedroom decor.
Forsyth Park
One more must-see in Savannah looks absolutely beautiful in pictures and even more picturesque in person! Forsyth Park has the right amount of Southern charm with its centrally located foundation and lush green perimeter. People were relaxing on the grassy fields along with their dogs while we roamed through the park on Sunday morning. Spend time walking through the weekend farmer’s market to find the best in local treats and gifts. The entire park spans 30 acres with Spanish moss draping down under live oak trees.
Paris Market & Brocante
Stop by The Paris Market & Brocante for a cup of coffee or some local antique finds. Brian found a soap square that he needed inside the market and he chose the verbena soap for our bathroom. Since visiting Paris last year, I immediately recognized the minty blue columns as Parisian aesthetic. The designers of the Paris Market modeled the cafe after a spot in Paris’ sixth arrondissement. Well, it wasn’t named Georgia’s Most Beautiful Coffee Shops for just any reason!
