10 Wearable Summer Trends
10 Wearable Summer Trends
Are you struggling to figure out what’s on trend for summer 2023? You’ve come to a great place because I am going to share 10 wearable summer trends with you! If you look above you’ll also notice a YouTube video filled with wearable summer trends and summer outfit ideas to go along with them.
1. Tailored Styles
A wearable trend to consider experimenting with this summer is a tailored item. Tailored styles include everything from blazers to trousers. Tailored styles are part of the Quiet Luxury trend that’s taking over runways and retail stores alike. Quiet Luxury means label-less pieces that are classic and timeless in design. Think: neutral tones, tailored cuts, and clean lines.
Want to see how I style trouser pants many different ways? Head over to this recent blog post for outfit ideas wearing wide-leg trousers. Most of the summer outfit ideas are affordable under $100, too.
2. Raffia
Woven and raffia styles are also a big part of summer 2023. You’ll notice raffia patterns on shoes and handbags. I’ve discovered brands like Mango and Walmart featuring affordable raffia items for any budget.
3. Saturated Colors and Prints
If neutrals aren’t for you, then you should definitely hone in on the saturated colors and prints trend! Think: bright and vibrant colors like hot pink, orange, and lime green.
4. Activewear
Ever since the start of the pandemic, we’ve noticed activewear and athleisure dominate retailer stores of all price points. From Nordstrom to Old Navy, you can easily spot an activewear area that contains workout leggings, sports bras, running shorts, and exercise dresses. Activewear will still hold on strong as a popular trend during the summertime. Personally, I am excited to wear my recent Old Navy exercise dress purchase out running errands.
5. Puffy Styles
A style that first gained traction on the runways at Bottega Venetta and Coach with pillow bags and coats. Puffy styles are not going away anytime soon. These inflated pieces are fun and avant-garde.
6. Barbiecore
One of the easiest trends to wear for summer? Barbiecore! A lot of girly shades of pink, feminine silhouettes, eyelet details, and puff sleeves are part of the Barbiecore trend. I’ve included a great variety of inspiration for you in the collage above with pieces from Abercrombie, Nordstrom, Walmart, and Mango.
7. Crochet
A 70s trend that’s coming back around in 2023? Crochet. Crochet knits are also perfect for the summer because the fabric has tons of holes for breath-ability. You can stick to neutrals with crochet knits or opt for a colorful knit pattern. Some of my favorite colorful crochet items are from Walmart! See this collage where I added a bunch of new arrivals with crochet knits.
In the image above I am wearing a colorful knit tank top from Walmart in my true size medium. The bright pink and orange tones makes this tank top so much fun to style! For a casual summer look, I wore the colorful knit tank with white linen shorts.
8. Metallics
One of the more surprising summer trends that I’ve noticed is metallics. Sequins, sparkles, metallic accents, and shiny fabrics are all part of the metallics summer trend.
9. Sheer
Incorporating a “sheer” aspect to an outfit doesn’t have to be too revealing. You can layer a sheer long sleeve top over an opaque tank top or bra. Sheer styles are ultra-feminine. You can wear one item with sheer details on top and then keep the rest of the look approachable with a classic item. Think: layering a white sheer top over a white tank top with cut-off denim shorts.
10. Back to Basics
Similarly to the tailored trend, we are seeing a lot of “back to basics” at places like LOFT, Walmart, and Old Navy. The back to basics trend means simple white tank tops, neutral tones, and stripes. The great thing about this trend is that you probably already have quite a few pieces in your wardrobe that are basics! Everyone has a nice basic white tank top and favorite pair of denim jeans.
