The Top 10 Summer Essentials All Women Need
After completing my Summer Capsule Wardrobe post, I felt like I needed to write up a post with 10 summer essentials for all women. I’ll be covering tops, bottoms, shoes, and accessories that all women should own for a beautiful and effortless summer wardrobe in 2023.
1. Trouser Pants
Wide-leg pants are currently one of the most popular pant styles this year. You don’t have to break the bank to find a wonderful wide-leg trouser. Mine (as seen in the image above) come from Target and are under $40. You can see how many ways to style wide-leg trousers in my YouTube video here. Trousers are surprisingly flattering, too. I was hesitant to try out trouser pants, but I am glad I did as these Target trousers are versatile and chic!
2. Neutral Bodysuit
When it comes to summer tops, I think bodysuits are your best bet. Amazon has SKIMS bodysuit looks for less. A neutral bodysuit pairs well with any type of bottom: skirts, pants, and shorts. Look for scoop-neck bodysuits to wear this summer with linen shorts.
3. White Sundress
During the hot summer months, you’ll want to wear light colors. White sundresses are the perfect answer for hot weather! Some of my favorite little white dresses feature feminine details like eyelet and scalloping. Check out this recent white eyelet dress that I bought at Walmart for under $40.
4. White Denim Shorts
A classic summer staple: white denim shorts. White denim shorts are effortless to wear in the summer. Personally, I opt for a pair of high-waisted white denim shorts as I find these to feel the most comfortable for my body shape. Some great places to look for white denim shorts are Old Navy, LOFT, and Abercrombie and Fitch.
5. Espadrille Wedges
Let’s talk summer shoes. What’s a summer shoe that NEVER goes out of style? Espadrille wedges. I firmly believe that espadrille wedges are a classic summer essential to own. You can pair a neutral espadrille wedge with just about anything. These wedges look good with dresses and jeans alike.
6. Satchel Bag
You don’t need to get this exact bag for your summer wardrobe, but rather take into consideration the look and feel of a basket weave satchel bag. A satchel bag with touches of raffia woven into it will do for summer 2023. Raffia and straw materials are a hot trend of the moment. Designers used these materials on the runways for S/S 2023 handbags and purses.
7. White Linen Blazer
One trend to consider for your summer wardrobe collection this year is called quiet luxury. Have you heard of this trend? Clothing items that fit the quiet luxury trend are blazers, tailored pants, classic button-down shirts, and well-fitted pieces.
Finding a neutral linen blazer is one example of how you can dress according to the quiet luxury trend this summer. White linen blazers are not only ideal for a day in the office, but they are excellent for completing a tailored look. You can dress an outfit up with a blazer or wear it casually over a t-shirt and jeans.
8. Slingback Ankle Strap Sandals
Another summer shoe to include in your wardrobe is a slingback ankle strap sandal. To be frank, I thought these Velcro sandals were so ugly at first! I seriously doubted if I ever would invest in my own pair of Velcro strap sandals until I stumbled upon the perfect white and gold sandal at Target.
Now I totally understand why these sandals are both on trend and practical for summer. If you plan on traveling abroad this summer, might I suggest picking up a cute Velcro strap sandal to roam around the streets comfortably! See a full list of summer shoes in this previous blog post.
9. Tailored Shorts
As with trousers, tailored shorts are also a popular summer bottom to own. To find your perfect tailored shorts I would look for shorts with a neutral tone with a long inseam. The tailored shorts that I found for myself are from Old Navy and have a long 6-inch inseam. These exact Old Navy tailored shorts fit true to size (M for me) and I have them worn with a neutral bodysuit.
10. White T-Shirt
Back to basics with a simple white t-shirt. The white t-shirt I have to style with in my summer wardrobe has a soft cotton material and stretchy fit. Check out Walmart for their best basic tops and shirts this summer season at low prices. My white t-shirt is $10 and incredibly soft!
